Description

  • Train local communities of Sirumalai Hills in sustainable reforestation to address food insecurity caused by population growth, land degradation and water shortage.  Objectives: restore 620 hectares of forest, create jobs (80% for women) through replanting, strengthen conservation education, train farmers on organic practices, introduce fuel efficient stoves
  • Website as of 8/14/2013 indicates 8,037 trees planted
  • This project is ongoing in Western Ghats: Sirumalai, South of India - state of Tamil Nadu.
