Description

  • The mission of this project is to reforest and sequester carbon in areas of the Brazilian Cerrado in the state of Tocantins, Brazil.
  • The project is in the Amazonian Region but is in the Brazilian Cerrado Biome.
  • This project began in 2009 and plans to reforest 3,000 acres using the Social Carbon method.
  • The social carbon method is a model for sustainable development which will train local communities, promote the use of non-timber forest products, and provide economically viable alternatives to clearing forest for agriculture.
