The mission of this project is to establish a screening trial using mostly native species in reforestation in order to evaluate the potential for various species to succeed in the plantation environment in Sarapiqui, Costa Rica.
The plantations were established in between 1987 and 1990 using 84 timber species
From their work, a narrowed list of species were named as prime targets for reforestation based on high survival rates, commercial value, and ecological benefits.
