Description

  • This project's mission is to transform 70 acres of severely eroded, arid land around the outskirts of Auroville into a tropical dry evergreen forest of native species.
  • The broader Sadhana project is to introduce people to sustainable agriculture, forestry, and overall sustainable living techniques.
  • Sadhana Forest is a volunteer based organization that hosts over 1000 volunteers year round.
  • The reforestation work began in 2003, and since then 26,000 indigenous trees have been planted.
  • Large scale rainwater harvesting has been conducted.
  • The project intends to continue planting and harvesting rainwater to introduce more people to the forest and sustainable forestry techniques.
